So here it is!!!

AWkwaRD…

-So at work a lot of people keep their work shoes in a cabinet, well that’s where I keep my jacket and purse…so at the end of the night part of me smells like feet :/

-I realized that I was uploading my Instagram pictures twice on my Facebook-my apologies to anyone who found that annoying cause I sure did…

-I slept in until 11am today…I like sleeping in, but oh lord…

AWESOME…

-This week I have experienced God’s grace and answering of prayer not only for myself, but for many of my friends and family. Which is awesome!!

-This week I found out we will be joining Myke’s parents and brother for a little mini vacation next week. Hopefully I can take some pictures and such. I also found out that we will hopefully be going to my old Davis family (the whole side) vacation spot for the first time in a few years in May and I cannot be more excited!!

 -Today is also Film Friday and we will be going to see Safe House tonight and tomorrow we will be going to one of my favorite cities, Pasadena to meet up with Myke’s parents and an old friend of theirs. Which will be AWESOME

This weekend is going to be a full one, but it will be another good one

I usually do not participate in Lent, not because I don’t like it or anything of that sort, most of the time I just don’t know what to give up. My freshman year I decided to give up Facebook. I was made fun of for this because everyone thought that I didn’t need to do that or they heard someone else was doing it. I had decided to do it because I had never really given up anything for Lent. During my freshman year, Facebook had taken over a lot of my life-keeping in contact with friends back home and just wasting my time, so I decided to give it up. Another thing I did was start a daily devotional, which I had attempted before and decided to give it a try. Guess what-I did it and I didn’t die and I did a devotional every day. It actually was easier than I thought, some people told me that if it was easy than there was no need to give it up in the first place. I disagreed. The first week was difficult cause EVERYONE around me was on Facebook, during this time I got my homework done quicker, read more books, and was more “face to face” with people around me. Plus I was able to spend more time with God, which is always a plus.

This year I decided that I’m going to try something a little different. Typically when I do a devotion, I read Jesus Calling and then say a little prayer for my family and friends and then move on. This Lent I’m going to try something different-listening. I’ve been feeling that I haven’t been listening to God-I’ve been doing all the talking. So now I”m going to try that this Lent.

Some of you are probably thinking that this doesn’t make sense, but what matters is that it makes sense to me. Lent is for the individual and what it means for their life and I feel this can really enrich my life as a whole. Anyone who is giving up or taking up something-Good Luck!!

Anyone else giving up anything for Lent?

Friday after Myke got off work we went straight to Laguna for a church leadership retreat. It took us about 3 hours, but we did get there and had an amazing time with some really sweet people. We talked about the vision of the church and where the plan was hoping to go for the new year. It was a really nice way for Myke and I to get to know the church on a deeper level and since we would like to get more involved in the church, going on this retreat was a good plan. This took up Friday night and Saturday day time…..Saturday night we went out and celebrated our friend’s birthday. That is always a good time and that night was no exception.

Saturday was also a tough-ish day for me. Saturday was the birthday of my late grandfather. He died my sophomore year of college and I miss him still to this day. Don’t worry I didn’t feel sorry that day, instead I said a little prayer and hoped that that day he would be watching over me and still be proud of me and what I have done. I like to think he does that every once and a while.

Sunday was a day that Myke and I needed. As most of you know I work at nights, which obviously means that I don’t spend a lot of nights with my husband. Because of this, Myke and I take our Friday Film nights very seriously, however we did not get one this past Friday. Saturday was spent with friends, which is awesome, but we were exhausted from the event we were at the night before. So when we woke up on Sunday at 10:15 (church starts at 10:30…sorry God) Myke rolled over and asked if I just wanted to have a “Myke and Allison Day.” If you want my honest opinion, I think God knew that we were both in need of a little time with each other and he made that day for us and I’m so glad he did. Myke and I cuddled together and watched Workaolics  on Netflix. I think every couple needs days like this-they need that time together to be in each other’s company, to just simply be together. I needed that little boost and I’m so glad I got it.

Sunday was also Mommy’s birthday so we called her up

The next day (yesterday) was Monday and Myke had the day off…but I didn’t. So we slept in together, had breakfast and lunch together, watched a little South Park and then I headed off to work. I was sad to leave him, especially on a day off, but as he lovingly put it, someone has to bring home bacon-then we proceeded to talk about how good bacon sounded-yes those are typically how out conversations go.

Anyway, these reasons were the reasons I was way way way WAY behind on posting. I have to admit I actually starte to miss it. Not that I had anything of importance to say, but I missed writing things down and just getting this out of my system. Myke was right-writing this has helped me and having people read and enjoying it helps too

This weekend was a mix of hanging out with old and new friends and just being together. It was busy yet pretty simple, but this weekend we should be back to normal.

But you never know what might happen…

Awkward…

-So I was called a not so nice word that starts with a B at work…for explaining how our drink system works. Now granted I was kinda short, but that was only because we had a line of drinks on 2 different counters (if you have ever worked in hospitality, especially a coffeehouse you can get me). Still awkward to say it so I can hear you…

-I’ve been watching Bridzillas on Netflix…all I can say is thank God none of my friends are like that…

-My in-laws got us See’s candy for Valentine’s Day…I have eaten a good portion of them…Thank God I don’t gain weight easily…

AWESOME

-It’s my day off tomorrow.

-Myke and I are going on a leadership retreat for our new church and we are SO excited to go and get more involved.

-And for the most EXCITING AWESOME NEWS OF THE WEEK…possibly MONTH…my very dear sweet best friend is GETTING MARRIED!!!

Shannon Eshoff is my oldest best friend in the entire world. We were in nursery school together, Sunday school all throughout the years together, liked the same boys, went to high school together, and walked down the graduation aisle together, and now she gets to walk down another aisle!! She is marrying the most wonderful and thoughtful man in the entire world and she derserves it!!

It will be a little difficult because I will be in Southern California while she is in Washington planning (she is going to grad school-she’s super smart), but I will do what I can for her because she deserves it. If that means flying to her, then I will do that.

So again, congrats to the beautiful bride-to-be and I can’t wait to see this process unfold, it will truly be awesome!!

Yesterday my day consisted of hanging out with my friend and tagging along while she got things together for her Valentine’s date. I felt bad that I was tagging along, but we spend time together doing random things and it always is a good time. After I spent time with her I went to work.

Work was pretty fun, we all were just working hard, but it was pretty empty. We pretty much were cleaning and waiting for people to come in. The longest rush we had was about 10 people and we were on top of it! It was actually a fun night because we all talked about what we have done on past Valentine’s and some people did things during the day. We also talked about what our parents used to do for us. However, if you remember my last post, Myke kept telling me I was getting a surprise. Well I was bugging him all day and he kept telling me to be patient…

Well I was getting ready to go on dinner break and all of a sudden my hubby comes walking in with a bouquet of flowers and on his way to get dinner for both of us. All I could do was hug the man. This was the perfect surprise, I miss Myke so much during the week and to have drive a hour to my job and then a hour back home spoke volumes to me on how much he loved me. We sat and talked, like we usually do on my break, but it was just so nice to hold his hand while talking to him.

Today is going to be pretty good-I’m hoping to visit my friend at work (which is a coffeeshop about 10 minutes from my job), which actually is pretty fun and I’m hoping to get some reading done while I’m there. I love reading in coffeeshops, it’s one of my favorite things.

Ever since I can remember, my dad has made Valentine’s Day very special. He always made sure Sarah and I had a Valentine’s card and a little gift with chocolate. That’s how I always thought of Valentine’s Day-a day to tell the people you love that you love them. Whether it is for a significant other, parent, or friend.

That’s Valentine’s Day. (plus I always got chocolate)

Hallmark has blown this entire day out of proportion. I’m not saying that people shouldn’t give gifts or go out for a nice dinner. If that’s what you like to do and you have the means to do those things, than please go out and do it. However there are people like me, who have to work. In that case, celebrate another day or do breakfast the morning of. I gave my husband gifts on Saturday when we celebrated Valentine’s Day and today I gave him a cute little card. Yes, I think it is a beautiful thing to get flowers and little gifts, however if I don’t get a Tiffany diamond-I think I can survive…for a little bit Plus he keeps telling me he has a surprise for me…

I’m a horrible daughter and did not send my parents a card, but I think I can make it up to them by sending them a fun home made one with the book that I got. They would like that. That’s what I think of when Valentine’s Day rolls around-my family. Since Myke and I started dating, yes I think of him too, but Valentine’s is about showing love to people around you-not just one person. Today I get to spend a little time with another one of my favorite people. She and I always have fun in whatever we do, so this afternoon is going to be a good one.

This is a pretty short post because like I just said, I have places to go and people (a person) to see. I hope you all have a nice Valentine’s Day.

I had a beautiful weekend. It started out with our Star Wars movie date. It may have been episode 1, but it was still fun to go see it in 3D. Plus I saw it with a real Star Wars nerd, like I ask him a question about a character that they don’t go into too much detail and he tells me all about it. He also will just lean over and tell me something about a character sitting in the back. For example, he said that there was another “Yoda species” on the Jedi council and he told me that George Lucas wants to keep Yoda’s species somewhat of a mystery. I think that’s pretty cool. Plus I love hearing him talk about Star Wars, he’s so cute when he does.

Saturday was our Valentine’s Day.

Back story: Myke and I have been together 3 years-we have only celebrated 1 Valentine’s Day on the actual day. The time we did that, Myke surprised me by taking me to Santa Monica and Bubba Gump. It was so much fun! Myke and I enjoy being in each other’s company more than anything-especially since now we are mostly separated during the week. So this Valentine’s Day, Myke decided to take me to Santa Monica again. Without realizing it we kinda recreated our Valentine’s Day from 2 years ago. We went to the aquarium there, walked down Venice Beach a little. We didn’t go to Bubba Gump, but we found a cute soda fountain called Soda Jerks that hand pump sodas. I got a hand pumped Dr. Pepper and Myke got a chocolate Coke. Both were awesome. We also had Dutch chocolate and white chocolate ice cream. After that we went and spent time with our friends, which is always fun.

Sunday we went to church and saw Myke’s parents

We went to church and spent time with our pastor. We are loving this new church and the people that we have met and spent time with have been wonderful people. Myke and I are hoping to get more involved with the church doing music and helping out with whatever they need help with. Maybe I could help start a coffeeshop…who knows…that actually would be kinda cool.

Another pretty awesome thing that happened this weekend was I got an awesome book on how to handmake different cards. It’s called A Card a Day, over 365 card ideas. I’m excited to start using the book. I wanted to try and make Myke a Valentine’s Card for the actual day, but I can’t really make a card while he is with me all weekend But I would rather be with him than make a card for him. (He’s pretty great).

Crafts is something I’m wanting to get into, the only problem is there isn’t really a place to make money off them, except Etsy. I’m not that confident in my crafting skills, but we will see where the crafting road takes me. Maybe it can just be something for me to do for fun, which is totally fine by me.

Last night we met up with Myke’s parents. Myke’s dad is taking some classes in the area and we were able to meet up with them for a little bit and update them on our lives and they update us. It’s good to talk to people who went through what we are going though-just financial crap, good ol’ money. But it was good to see them for a little bit.

This weekend was so wonderful and weekend like this make me so happy that I’m married to Myke. I won’t bore you with my explanations of how much I love my husband cause then people will just roll their eyes and be like shut up. So I will say this-He is the most amazing man I have ever met, hands down.

Anyway, I hope you all had a good weekend as well!

Photography

I have mentioned this before, I have been surrounded by photography for most of my life. My wonderful grandmother is an amateur photographer, but her pictures are BEAUTIFUL. I wish I had a picture of one, hopefully I can get one soon-there is one of the picture of the clock from behind in the Musee D’Orsay in Paris. I’ve been there so that’s what makes it even more special. I would like to take pictures, but I need a good camera. So I believe that is where my money will be going for the next few months

Cooking/Baking

I LOVE baking. My kitchen is too small for me to do a lot of it, but I love cooking. I like trying new recipes, I have a co-worker who is an amazing baker and she gave me a lot of recipes to try, so once we have  a little more space I’ll be more adventurous. We have baked a cake from scratch in our tiny kitchen-that was a hoot and a half, but the cake was still good.

Graphic Design

I’ve always been interested the way that graphic design. I don’t necessarily want to do it as a carrer, but it’s just something that fascinates me. I have a few friends that do graphic design and their creations are always fun to look at. I have done a few designs here and there, but when I say that, keep in mind it has been for things like church/youth events. It’s still fun though.

Music

I love music. I have been singing in choirs since I was around 5 or so and I love doing it. I used to play piano and I’m hoping to get back into it. I would hope to someday in our huge house that we will have eventually…maybe…have a grand piano. I think a grand piano is one of the most beautiful things in the world. They are beautiful to look at and beautiful to listen to. I love music and I’m happy that I married a musician and I’ll be surrounded by and involved in music for the rest of my life.

Home Decor

I love decorating. I have alway been nervous about actually doing it because I’m afraid of what people would think. Now that I’m married, Myke has told me that I have his permission to do what I want-but there is only so much I can do in a studio apartment, but I think that we have done a pretty good job with what we have. I’m mostly looking froward to the next apartment!!

blogs and maybe I can get ideas from them. Well that’s what I did…this came from the bog of my sister’s friend Brittany McInerney, whom surprisingly I have met only once. She is a very dear friend for my sister’s and she was also in her

wedding. Her wedding obviously happened while my wedding was being planned, so her wedding was mentioned a lot in our house. It was even on the family calendar (because Sarah was in her wedding and we had to note that she was gone). Anyway, she also has a blog and after reading it, I can tell that she and I would be good friends because she is doing a lot of the things that I would like to do with crafts and fashion (cause Lord knows I need help with fashion).

Mrs. Brittany McIerney wrote a post, then my sister “stole” the post, well now it’s my turn…

Awkward

• In our small apartment, we have the tiniest kitchen I have ever seen…it’s awkward-but a funny awkward. Myke and I were baking a cake one time and we were both in there, we were bumping into each other, running into the fridge, trying to open the oven without burning the other person. Oh the joys of a first apartment!
• We still do not have all our wedding presents in this apartment…my parents have them…one reason why I love my parents.
• At my job I deal with awkward situations like telling people not to wear shoes in the coffee shop. I find it very silly that I have to tell people they need to wear shoes…and they fight me on it…yes they fight me on why it’s ok for them to not wear shoes inside. I want to look at them and be like you’re being disgusting.

Awesome 

• I get 2 Valentine’s Days!!! Yes you hear me!!! 2!! Don’t worry-Myke isn’t just a huge romantic, the reason we are having 2 is because I work nights, so I will be working on February 14 obviously. So we are celebrating this Saturday and Myke said we can do a little something on the 14th…I’ll probably get a card, but that’s a good thing too
• I finally hung our diplomas. Graduating college seems more real now.
• This Friday Star Wars comes out in 3D. I’m excited because I get to see an awesome series in 3D. Awesome!!

Awesome thing #1: I have officially received my new social security card in the mail. I have officially been named Myke’s wife (yay). Then the wheels started turning-I’m no longer a Davis. Well at least my name isn’t Davis. The way I look at it is yes I am Myke’s wife and my last name is Clements, but I will always be a Davis at heart. That is what makes me me. I am still my father’s daughter and my mother’s daughter, I just have another role now, someone’s wife-which should be fun.

Awesome thing #2: My first Valentine’s day as a married woman is coming up. This is the one of the few times where I can be very girly-I do like Valentine’s Day. I like that it is another day that you show love to the people you love-not just a specific significant other. My dad used to give us cards and a little gift on Valentine’s Day, in the morning we would wake up and he would have one card for me, one for my sister, and one for my mom (as we got older we figured out Mom got actually 2, which I thought was nice). That’s how I have always pictures Valentine’s Day-showing PEOPLE around you that you care for them. I have no idea what is going to happen for Valentine’s Day, I have been told to not worry about it, but Myke is pretty good at this stuff so I’m not too worried.

Awesome thing #3: Star Wars comes out in 3D this Friday. Hear me out before you roll your eyes or laugh at me. I LOVE Star Wars. Mom and Dad should us Star Wars when we were pretty little and I didn’t like it at first because I didn’t like when Obi-Wan Kenobi died. Dad had to talk to me and tell me that I had to keep watching to get a surprise about Obi-Wan Kenobi (he didn’t want to spoil the surprise of him ‘not really dying’). I have seen each Star Wars movie and I’m like everyone else when I say the original three are way better. However, Star Wars is Star Wars and plus Natalie Portman is it so it’s kinda a win win for Myke and I. Also, Star Wars was one of the things that Myke and I first bonded over when we met. We still talk about Star Wars and how much we love it and it’s a fun common interest we both have. Needless to say, Myke and I are really excited for this Film Friday.

Today is Wednesday, the middle of the week and today is usually the day when I start to feel a little down because I just want it to be the freaking weekend already!! So here are some words of encouragement for y’all…
